Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, our school implemented a Secure action under the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This was done out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

During a Secure, all students and staff remain inside the building, and exterior doors are locked. Classes and activities continue as usual inside the school. This procedure allows us to maintain a normal learning environment while limiting access from outside until we determine that there is no safety concern.

The Secure was initiated after we received information from Logan County law enforcement about a situation in the community that was unrelated to our school but required precautionary measures. At no time were students or staff in danger, and the protocol was lifted once it was determined to be safe to do so.

We understand that situations like this can cause concern, and we want you to know that the safety of our students is our top priority. Our staff and students train regularly in the Standard Response Protocol to ensure we are prepared for a variety of situations.

For your reference, a copy of this letter will come home with your child, and we have attached a document from the "I Love U Guys" Foundation that explains the Standard Response Protocol and the actions associated with it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the district office.

Sincerely,

Candi Shaver

Superintendent

The students had a bus evacuation drill this morning. It's always good to know what to do in an emergency. Kindergarten and 1st grade were the first to practice with help from 7th and 8th grade students.
