This week was all about pumpkins in Special Education. We read the book Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell and learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We used pumpkins in math, too. Our math activities included measuring, stacking, storing, and counting. At the end of the week, we carved a pumpkin to look like the one in our story.

In seventh grade ELA today, when all of their other work was done, some of the students played a game called "Hitchhiker", a game that practices improv skills and they used it to study their vocabulary words for this week. I gave them a vocabulary word, and the students watching gave them a scenario, and they had to act out the scenario and, in their dialogue, use the vocabulary word I had given them. It seems like they had fun!

Kindergarten did their first science experiment today. We are studying force: pushes & pulls. Partners were given a paper clip, a wooden cube & each a straw. They had to see how many puffs it took to move the object 6". After, they had to tell if their puffs were a push or a pull and then draw a picture of a push & pull.

Kindergarten was very disappointed this week when we started science and they learned we wouldn't be making "potions" or "making things explode". Mr. Walter kindly invited us to join the 8th grade as they did an experiment in their science class. The kindergarteners loved it! Thank you, Mr. Walter, Riley, Maddie & Mason.
